Volunteer Opportunities

Annually, we have three major donation and volunteer campaigns: our Essentials Diaper Drive, Annual Fundraising Event, and Homelessness Awareness Month. We’re proud to also act as a leading partner in several other events, put on by our public and private partners.

Year-Round Volunteering

Any time of year, YOU can volunteer! Support our HomeAid Family CareCenter: an emergency shelter for families.

Our HomeAid Family CareCenter is the first of our housing developments that we decided to own. It provides a home and safe haven for families experiencing homelessness. There are a variety of ways you can support the families and our Family CareCenter.

Interested? Email volunteer@homeaidoc.org for information on volunteer opportunities.

You Can Get Involved In Person, At Home, or Online

At Home

HomeKits are small to medium-sized move-in care packages for the families who move on from our Family CareCenter to their next, more permanent housing option.

What should HomeKits include? Think about things you need when you first move into a new place and put the items into a basket or storage bin.

  • Silverware
  • Cups
  • Plates
  • Bowls
  • Paper products
  • Small blankets
  • Kitchen and bath towels
  • Batteries
  • Drapes
  • Laundry detergent
  • Dryer sheets

You can either donate assembled HomeKits to our office or donate the items for HomeKits online here, through our AmazonSmile Charity list, and our staff will assemble them.

Toiletry Kits are just what you would expect: toiletry travel bags filled with travel-sized shampoos, conditioners, body soaps, hand sanitizers, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

Email volunter@homeaidoc.org to coordinate drop-off of either of the above.

In-Person

We welcome volunteers to do the following, while wearing masks, at our Family CareCenter:

1. Dinner service nightly from 6-7 PM. Volunteers are welcome to help our on-site team with serving a meal, in addition to bringing a craft or activity to do with the children. *this opportunity open to 7 or fewer volunteers*

2. Community CareDay on weekdays from 11 AM – 1 PM which includes a deep clean of our Family CareCenter and making sack lunches for the families *this opportunity open to 10 people or less*
