Each Fall, HomeAid Orange County hosts the Thanksgiving Meal Drive, aimed at collecting non-perishable, canned foods and grocery gift cards for families and individuals experiencing homelessness so that they too can have food on the table for Thanksgiving dinner.

We work in partnership with the OC Food Bank of CAP/OC for this annual drive. The donated food is put into boxes providing the food for a Thanksgiving meal. 1 of the donated grocery gift cards are given to the recipients for them to use to purchase either turkeys, hams, etc. Annually, we have a goal to assemble over 1,000 Thanksgiving Meal boxes thanks to the help of volunteers and donors like you. The meal boxes are distributed to individuals and families living in housing options developed by HomeAid Orange County.

What does it mean to host a donation site?

After signing up, we provide you with a donation box. Our team will contact you to arrange a pick-up of your donation box from our office. Then, your task is simple! You encourage your team, office, neighbors, church, etc. to donate the items listed on our flyer (see below) to your donation box.

Please note: Donation site hosts will drop off the donated items that they’ve collected at Harvesting Hope Day. This will be on November 12th from 10 AM to 2 PM in Parking Lot 5 at the Honda Center.

Donation Drop-Off Sites

Please drop-off your donations at the below locations from Monday-Friday, between 9 AM & 5 PM. Donations will be collected at these locations from October 12th- November 13th.

Lend a helping hand on November 12th at the Honda Center. Volunteers will be doing any of the following:

1.Helping donors unload donations of canned and boxed food items from their cars
2.Sorting donated items into designated bins
3.Directing traffic

Put together Thanksgiving meals for those in need this holiday season at the OC Food Bank in Garden Grove. Using the donated food and grocery gift cards from the 2020 Thanksgiving Meal Drive, volunteers will be making Thanksgiving Meal Boxes.

All meal boxes will be given to those living in housing developed by HomeAid Orange County.

*HomeAid has designed all of our volunteer opportunities with social distancing measures in place. HomeAid will provide disposable masks and gloves. Masks are required to be worn at all times during the event. Temperatures of each volunteer will be taken upon arrival.*
