November 4, 2017 - HomeAid Orange County hosted its annual Doorways for Hope Gala at the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, CA. This year’s theme was Denim and Diamonds. Over 360 guests came together to end homelessness by raising $330,000. Jennie Galindo shared her inspiring story about overcoming homelessness with the assistance of various organizations and shelters, including the recently completed HomeAid Family CareCenter in Orange. Jennie’s story highlighted the increasing need for shelters such as the Family CareCenter, which provides emergency housing and service connections for homeless families. The Family CareCenter can serve up to 15 families at a time and is equipped with 56 beds, a Learning Technology Center, an outdoor recreation area, a kitchen and dining area, 6 full bathrooms with showers, laundry facilities, and more. The funds raised at this year’s gala will support the completion of the kitchen at the Family CareCenter, as well as meals for the families at the shelter.
