BUENA PARK, CA (March 28, 2007) — John Laing Homes employees came together to help clean-up future transitional living community, Hope Family Housing — Buena Park.

The group of volunteers organized by Eric Weinstein — Hope Family Housing Project Superintendent with John Laing Homes — was joined by HomeAid Orange County staff that together spent three hours at the building site cleaning, clearing and painting in preparation for the ground breaking held on March 27th.

"John Laing Homes is one of several companies that participates in a unique volunteer program called B.R.I.D.G.E — an acronym that stands for Breaking down barriers, Respecting others, Investing our resources, Dedicating to the community, Giving ourselves, Everyone makes a difference — to encourage community service," explained project organizer, Eric Weinstein.

"Through B.R.I.D.G.E, employees earn $20 dollars for each hour of volunteer service at a nonprofit organization of their choice," said Weinstein adding that the volunteers can earn up to $400 per fiscal year. "The Hope Family Housing development was chosen for Volunteer Day in part because of John Laing Homes' role as the Builder Captain for the project that kicks off construction later this month."

When completed, Hope Family Housing — Buena Park, consisting of 16 units and a manager's apartment will provide long-term housing with supportive assistance to homeless families, many of whom will be transitioning from motels throughout the county.

The Hope Family Housing development liaison HomeAid Orange County is the Building Industry Association's philanthropic arm, and is the largest provider of homeless shelters in the county. HomeAid has 40 completed projects to its credit with three in various stages of planning and construction throughout Orange County where in a typical year, over 6,000 homeless individuals and families find refuge at a HomeAid shelter development.

The success of HomeAid Orange County relies heavily on the caring hearts of companies like John Laing Homes — that along with more than 1500 community and Building Industry Association members — have collectively contributed over 500,000 hours of volunteer labor so that others less fortunate might re-enter mainstream society.
