Fashion Furniture-Families Forward

By:  Delene Garbo, HomeAid Orange County

HomeAid Orange County, the charitable outreach of the Building Industry Association is grateful for the outpouring of on-going support from both the building industry and the community at large. That spirit of generosity becomes even more evident during this season of giving.

Such generosity is exemplified by new HomeAid donor Fashion Furniture Rental, a company that was brought to HomeAid’s attention through Wade Cable president and COO of William Lyon Homes, a long-standing HomeAid supporter. Fashion Furniture Rental provides premium quality rental furniture for offices, models, home staging companies, and luxury apartment communities.

Brian Pidgeon with Fashion Furniture served as the liaison for the company’s recent donation to Families Forward, a HomeAid care provider that serves homeless families throughout the county.

The donation consisted of complete rooms of furniture for five two-bedroom Families Forward Tustin condos where homeless families will soon be residing. The furniture was delivered shortly after Thanksgiving and provides a much-appreciated ambiance for those striving to regain self-sufficiency.

The furniture recipient, Families Forward is a nonprofit organization that helps families in need achieve and maintain self-sufficiency through housing, counseling, education and other support services.

Families Forward offers its clients a Homeless Intervention Program that is centered around a 90-day to 18-month stay for families that have lost their housing. Its program provides private housing – such as the newly furnished Tustin condos built by Lennar Homes. The successful program combines individual and group counseling along with a self-determined action plan to meet goals in the areas of employment, housing and family.

Clients that visit Families Forward are typically working-class citizens, who are struggling to keep up with the high costs of today’s housing market. Two parents working at minimum wage can often not cover the expenses on the average $1220 monthly rent for an Orange County two-bedroom apartment.

Through the help of companies like Fashion Furniture Rental, Families Forward and the many other HomeAid care provider partners are able to make a difference in thousands of lives every year. If you or your company are considering a charitable gift this holiday season, please visitwww.homeaidoc.org to learn how you can become a part of this season of caring through helping the transitionally homeless that otherwise might not be given a second chance.
