IRVINE, CA (February 14, 2008) HomeAid Orange County, the founding chapter of a national non-profit organization, announced the naming of new board president, Jay Blakslee, Principal/Owner, The Blakslee Companies.
Blakslee is one of the founders of HomeAid Orange County, serving on the original steering committee formed in 1988 by the Orange County Chapter of the Building Industry Association (BIA/OC). The team was brought together to develop an innovative method to formalize the charitable work of the BIA/OC. The result was the creation of HomeAid Orange County which has now grown into a national organization with 22 chapters across the country.
As the only original founding board member currently on the board, for 19 years Blakslees' leadership and vision has played an integral part in the success of the organization.
For this reason, he was presented with HomeAid's 2004 Rainbow of Hope Award. He has volunteered as board liaison for six housing development projects and is currently the board
liaison for the Village of Hope, HomeAid's largest project to date valuing over $27 million and Mustard Seed Ranch, a joint effort with two other HomeAid chapters.
Prior to developing his own grading and paving business (The Blakslee Companies) Blakslee's resume is broad - reaching across the full spectrum of the home building industry. He
brings 38 years of building experience working in Southern California to this critical leadership role.
