Richard Knowland new HomeAid Orange County board member.

Newport Beach, CA (February 14, 2007) -- HomeAid Orange County - the charitable arm of the Building Industry Association charged with the mission of building and renovating homeless shelters - is pleased to announce the appointment of its newest board member, Richard Knowland, regional vice president with Lennar Homes.

In his position with Lennar, Knowland is responsible for the company’s operations throughout Orange County and oversees the development of several high profile master plans and redevelopment programs including: The Villages of Columbus – 2,000 homes at the former MCAS – Tustin; Central Park West – 1,380 homes in the Irvine Business Complex; and “A” Town, 2,500 homes in a urban village in the Platinum Triangle of Anaheim.

A graduate of Whittier College with a degree in Political Science, and California State University at Long Beach where he holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration, Knowland is active in both the Building Industry Association of Orange County (BIAOC) and the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB).

Knowland who currently resides in Irvine with his wife and children is one of 24 HomeAid Orange County Board members providing leadership for this nonprofit serving as the charitable arm of the Building Industry Association.

Those temporarily homeless served by HomeAid include women in crisis pregnancy; abused children; victims of domestic violence; homeless adults living with HIV/AIDS; the mentally challenged; homeless youths; and those families and individuals who find themselves homeless as a result of job loss or catastrophic illness.
