HomeAid Orange County is pleased to announce the appointment of its newest board member, Richard Douglass recently retired Building Industry Association president, and president of the South Coast Division of Centex Homes.

HomeAid Orange County, the founding chapter of HomeAid America, was established in 1989 by the leadership of the Orange County Chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California. Charged with the mission of building and renovating shelters for temporarily homeless Orange County men, women and children, HomeAid Orange County has completed 34 shelter developments with five in various stages of planning and construction.

As a third generation homebuilder and Orange County native, Douglass has experience in all facets of the home building industry including serving as vice president of Forward Planning for the South Coast Division of Kaufman and Broad, now KB Home. Prior to his position with KB Home he was the director of planning for Landmark Land Company of California, a developer of some of the finest golf course communities in the nation.

Having graduated from the Construction Technology Academy at Orange Coast College program, Douglass then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Political Science from California State University, Long Beach. His technical, hands-on experience coupled with his knowledge in both political science and economics have contributed to his success as a building industry professional.
