NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (September 22, 2008) - William Lyon Homes has unveiled a custom-built playhouse creation, which is now on public display until October 11, at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. The ultimate fan’s dream, all USC Trojans, alumni and future little Trojans will want to take a peek inside the first ever, Lyons’ Little Greek House. This miniature fraternity house is a one-of-a-kind USC inspired playhouse built on the tradition and the spirit of “school pride,” which embody the values of a true Trojan: faithful, scholarly, skillful, courageous and ambitious! Complete with USC fan-inspired memorabilia, Lyons’ Little Greek House includes an autographed Carson Palmer football, a Matt Leinhart putter, a Pete Carroll football, and a 2008 team ball, which will be auctioned off to one lucky USC fan as part of HomeAid Orange County’s 17th Annual Project Playhouse.
“In the many years of participation in HomeAid’s Project Playhouse, this is our most creative and exciting Playhouse design yet, and we are extremely proud of the final look and quality of Lyons’ Little Greek House,” said Carl Morabito, Division President for William Lyon Homes. “We are grateful and give thanks to the many contractors and trade partners who helped bring this inspired design to life. We look forward to helping HomeAid raise a significant amount of money through the auction of this playhouse. I encourage everyone to come out to Fashion Island and see the playhouse in person and participate in the live auction for a chance to take it home!”
Lyons’ Little Greek House is one of eight elaborate kid-size playhouses included in this year’s Project Playhouse event. Every detail was designed to embrace the atmosphere of camaraderie. The interior features many designer touches throughout, including stately hardwood flooring and custom-crafted woodwork. Dueling flat screen TVs, DVDs and exterior speakers will provide hours of entertainment, while the comfortable table and chairs invite weary pledges to unwind. The house’s exterior is reminiscent of true southern charm with columnar front and rear porches, handsome masonry and iron accents that compliment the Georgian architecture.
Project Playhouse debuted in 1992 and has become HomeAid Orange County’s signature fundraiser. The unique event has raised more than $5 million to help the nearly 20 year old non-profit organization fulfill its mission to build dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives. For 17 years, dedicated homebuilders, trades, architects and designers have donated their talents and resources to create these whimsical playhouses.
Seven of the playhouses will be awarded to the highest bidder at the live public auction party on Saturday, October 11. For tickets and auction bidder information, please visit www.projectplayhouse.org.
