IRVINE, Calif. (September 18, 2008) — The Anaheim Ducks Street Team and their official mascot Wild Wing will be at HomeAid Orange County's 17th Annual Project Playhouse® presented by Bank of America on Sunday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fashion Island® in Newport Beach. Wild Wing and the Ducks Street Team will be showcasing their playhouse, the Anaheim Ducks Hockey Hideaway and inviting fans to participate in the Duck Prize Wheel.
The Anaheim Ducks Hockey Hideaway and seven other incredible playhouses are on display at Fashion Island until Oct. 11. On weekends, for a $5 donation per person, visitors can tour both Project Playhouse villages and view all the playhouse interiors through each playhouse’s Dutch doors. The five week long event culminates with a live public auction at Fashion Island on Saturday, Oct. 11.
The Anaheim Ducks Hockey Hideaway built in partnership with John Laing Homes and Urban Arena is the ultimate retreat for any child who loves hockey and the great outdoors. Inspired by the Ducks' palette the fully furnished cabin's interior combines rustic charm with a modern twist. Memorabilia including treasured photos of the players as children adorn the hideaways walls. Little hockey players will keep warm by the glow of the electric fireplace while they watch Anaheim Ducks games on a flat screen television. For outdoor entertaining, the playhouse is equipped with a barbecue and a full-sized inflatable outdoor movie theater. And the family’s four-legged friend is not forgotten - a custom dog house is included with this hockey fan’s playhouse.
Project Playhouse debuted in 1992 and has become HomeAid Orange County’s signature fundraiser. The unique event has raised more than $5 million to help the nearly 20 year old non-profit organization fulfill its mission to build dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives. For 17 years, dedicated homebuilders, trades, architects and designers have donated their talents and resources to create these whimsical playhouses.
