IRVINE, Calif. (July 16, 2008) - Two local custom homebuilders have joined the prestigious list of homebuilders to design and create eight whimsical playhouses for HomeAid Orange County’s 17th Annual Project Playhouse® which raises funds to build housing for Orange County homeless families. The incredible village of adorable cottages will premiere at Fashion Island® in Newport Beach on Saturday, September 6 with village tours on weekends through October 11.

New playhouse builders Waterpointe Homes and W Custom Homes have joined a group of veteran award winning playhouse builders: Finton Construction; John Laing Homes in partnership with the Anaheim Ducks; University California Irvine Facilities Management Team; Wahoo’s Fish Taco and Friends; William Lyon Homes and Shea Homes which built the 2007 People’s Choice Award – TradePartners’™ Hampton Harmony.

“Waterpointe Homes is excited to bring our craftsmanship and unique architectural designs together to create a one of a kind playhouse that will bring joy to a special family while raising much needed funds to help homeless families rebuild their lives,” said Garrett Calacci, Founder of Waterpointe Homes.

During the five-week long event, an estimated 3 million visitors will view the 8 feet wide by 10 feet tall miniature masterpieces. Each playhouse is fully furnished by some of Southern California’s premier interior designers featuring quality construction and materials such as Italian marble, hardwood floors and mahogany banisters.

Seven of the playhouses will be up for auction at the live public auction party on Saturday, October 11. In addition for only $5 anyone can enter the opportunity drawing to win Wahoo’s Xtreme Sports Shack – the ultimate Southern California lifestyle experience. This remarkable playhouse provides a place to serve up Wahoo’s Fish Tacos and houses many “Xtreme” accessories such as skateboards, surfboards and video games. It’s a haven for young extreme sports enthusiasts.

All funds raised, including ticket donations, opportunity drawing and auction proceeds, support HomeAid Orange County’s mission to build dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives.
