NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF (June 21, 2007) “Oh what a night,” and similar refrains echoed across the expanse of the Village of Hope Courtyard where over 500 distinguished building industry and community guests were on hand to honor HomeAid Orange County’s 2007 Rainbow of Hope Award recipients.
The evening served as the platform for two debuts; HomeAid’s newly created recognition event, LimeLight, a gourmet wine pairing gala; and the event venue - the Village of Hope, HomeAid Orange County’s largest shelter development to date slated for completion in 2007.

The lighted awning framing the Village of Hope courtyard provided a unique backdrop for two pulsating dance floors, with black and white striped canopied  food stations offering gourmet treats from popular local restaurants; Bandara, Bayside, Taleo Mexican Grille, Oysters, and Fleur de Lis Catering. Each meal was enhanced by accompanying wines and guests were greeted with a champagne welcome delivered personally by event creator and host Michael Schrock.

“LimeLight” was given its name to define the essence of the event created to honor the work of committed companies and individuals that give unselfishly to aid homeless men, women and children residing throughout Orange County.

This year’s outstanding Rainbow of Hope Award recipients were:

Care Provider: H.O.M.E.S (Helping Our Mentally Ill Experience Success)
Corporate Partner: Hayes Martin Associates, Inc.
Media Partner:  Churm Media
Consultant: KTGY Group, Inc.
Specialty Contractors: Reed Thomas & Cal Pac Sheet Metal
Volunteer:  The Mulvaney Family

The evening program kicked off with The Rainbow of Hope 2007 Specialty Contractor Awards presented to both Cal Pac and Reed Thomas Co., Inc. accepted by Mari Kurtz and Shane Peters, respectively.
Hayes Martin Associates, Inc. received the Rainbow of Hope Corporate Partner Award accepted by Sandy Keedy; and KTGY Group, Inc. was honored with the Rainbow of Hope Consultant Award accepted by KTGY principals, Rob Williams and Brian Muehlbauer.

The 2007 Rainbow of Hope Care Provider Award went to  H.O.M.E.S. (Helping our mentally ill experience success) accepted by Helen Cameron, executive director, with the first Rainbow of Hope  Media Partner Award going to Churm Media, accepted by Steve Churm. The final award of the evening, the 2007 Rainbow of Hope Volunteer Award, went to the David Mulvaney family, and was accepted y by Dave Mulvaney.

Honoree, Mari Kurtz, president of Cal Pac Sheet Metal, expressed the sentiments of the various award recipients when she said, “The outpouring of recognition, kind words, and acknowledgement for being a part of something I feel so passionate about, is rewarding times 100, 000…My daughter told me how proud of me she is, and gave me the biggest hug….Doesn't get any better than that!”

The first annual LimeLight chaired by Sonia Lister of Jackson, DeMarco, Tidus Petersen & Peckenpaugh, and Michael Schrock, Urban Arena – the brain child of this exciting new concept - garnered proceeds topping out at nearly $250,000. Event earnings are slated to benefit HomeAid Orange County’s shelter development program, now serving in its 18th year as the Building Industry Association of Southern California’s charitable outreach.

ABOUT THE VILLAGE OF HOPE:
Led by Builder Captains Oltmans Construction, William Lyon Homes, John Laing Homes, Lennar Communities, and Laing Luxury, the Village of Hope -  located on a 5-acre site on the old Tustin Marine Corp Air Base - is slated to become a national model of successful base re-use planning.

The development consists of two phases; one focusing on the renovation of 82,000 square feet of the Tustin Marine Corp Air Station barracks, and the second comprised of the new construction of a 40,000 square-foot administration building and an 8,000 square foot chapel/auditorium. Village of Hope programs will be provided by the Orange County Rescue Mission and will offer shelter and assistance for families in an effort to help them achieve stability and self-sufficiency.  Children will receive daycare and learning programs while their parents will participate in educational and vocational training.
