A Day At The Big A
NEWPORT BEACH, CA –HomeAid Orange County’s Project Playhouse Opportunity House, “A Day At The Big A” built by Lennar Homes, designed by Bassenian/Lagoni Architects and landscaped by The Collaborative West, can be yours. The Opportunity Playhouse will be on exhibit at Angels Stadium from August 22nd to August 27th when fans can purchase Opportunity Prize tickets for $2 each for a chance to win this very special playhouse. The playhouse will then be brought to its new home at Fashion Island near the Atrium Lawn, where it will be on display until October 14, 2006 when a drawing will be held at the Project Playhouse Auction Party.




NEWPORT BEACH, CA - (September 9, 2006) Fashion Island in Newport Beach has transformed its courtyards into a wonderland village of 10 incredible playhouses where HomeAid Orange County’s Project Playhouse is taking center stage.

The continued support from Southern California’s top builders and their trade partners has catapulted HomeAid’s annual fundraiser - celebrating its 15th year - into one of Orange County’s premier events, drawing more than three million visitors from all over the world.

This year’s Project Playhouse 2006 Builders are:

Presented by the Children & Families Commission of Orange County, Project Playhouse open now through October 14th promises to be a great time for the entire family, beginning with today’s Open House where the Opportunity House and nine other one-of-a-kind playhouses will be on display. This is the only time throughout the entire event when the public can actually go inside the playhouses. The cost for this fun-for-the-whole-family party is $15 or a family 4-pack for $45.  Proceeds benefit HomeAid’s shelter development program.

As part of the celebration in partnership with Bank of America, Angels baseball players will be on hand for a meet and greet starting at 10:00 a.m. Open House hours are 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Beginning the following Sunday, Weekend Village Tours are open on weekends only beginning September 10th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. cost is $5.

This year’s Opportunity Prize entitled A Day at the Big A isa whimsical oversized baseball built by Lennar Homes complete with players’ lounge, team-signed jersey, and a rooftop batting cage. Tickets are available for $2 each at the Fashion Island concierge and at HomeAid Orange County, by calling (949) 553-9510 or visiting www.projectplayhouse.org. The drawing will be held at the Moroccan-themed live public Auction Party sponsored by State Street Bank on October 14th and held in a festive tent near Bloomingdale’s beginning at 5:30 p.m.; you need not be present to win.

Those wishing to purchase a playhouse, but not able to attend the public auction may make special bid submittal arrangements through HomeAid Orange County.

Those homeless individuals and families served through HomeAid through funds garnered in part by the proceeds generated by this popular event include: victims of domestic violence; families and individuals made homeless by job loss or catastrophic illness; women in crisis pregnancy; abandoned or neglected youth; and the mentally disabled.  To date, Project Playhouse has raised more than $4 million to help those in need.
