NEWPORT BEACH, CA - HomeAid Orange County's Project Playhouse Opportunity House, "A Day at the Big A" built by Lennar Homes, designed by Bassenian/Lagoni Architects and landscaped by The Collaborative West, can be yours. The Opportunity Playhouse will be on exhibit at Fashion Island near the Atrium Lawn, where it will be on display until October 14, 2006 when a drawing will be held at the Project Playhouse Auction Party.
Newport Beach, CA (August 29, 2006) -- "A Day at the Big A" playhouse built by Lennar Homes will be on public display at Fashion Island in Newport Beach beginning August 28th through October 14th when one lucky winner will have the chance to take this amazing playhouse home.
The playhouse, complete with team-signed jersey and other Angel memorabilia will be raffled off as part of HomeAid Orange County's Project Playhouse, the organization's signature fundraising event to raise money for housing the transitionally homeless, last year's event raised over one half million slated for HomeAid Orange County's shelter development program.
For the first time "A Day at the Big A" premiered at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim on August 22nd through August 27th where baseball fans were able to purchase Opportunity tickets for $2 each. The playhouse was received with an overwhelming response by everyone who passed by - even Red Sox and Yankee fans bought tickets! The playhouse was shown on-screen during the game to a daily sell-out crowd of over 44,000.
We had record breaking sales of over $6,000 for the 6-game series and at $2 a ticket, that's an amazing accomplishment. Moreover, the Angels scored well over 25 runs during the home stand and thanks to Bank of America and Lennar Homes that jointly raised another $25,000 for HomeAid Orange County. The exposure for HomeAid and the ability to market what we (and these partners) do for the homeless community was the opportunity of a lifetime.
Approximately 8 feet wide by 10 feet tall, the Angels Playhouse is one of 10 playhouses included in this year's Project Playhouse event, which spans seven weeks and is being presented by the Children and Families Commission of Orange County. Each playhouse is constructed by some of California's premier home builders and is built with fine detail and the highest quality materials, including Italian marble, mahogany and stone.
Events leading up to the live auction include an Open House on September 9, which offers the only opportunity for the public to tour the insides of the playhouses; Playhouse Village tours every weekend beginning September 10; and the Auction Party and Live Public Auction on October 14.
