Garners Top Dollar to Aid Homless

It was a packed house at the Newport Beach Four Seasons Hotel where HomeAid Orange County recently honored the building industry and its associates for their contributions in support of Orange County's homeless men, women and children. Attended by 400 distinguished building industry and community notables, the fifth annual Rainbow of Hope Ball chaired by Michelle Pate, of Keystone Pacific Property Management, garnered proceeds topping out at $167,000. Event earnings are slated to benefit HomeAid Orange County's shelter development program, now in its 15th year as the Building Industry Association of Southern California's charitable outreach.
Chuck Dreyer, professional auctioneer served as master of ceremonies and hosted a live auction of extraordinary collectibles including a signed baseball bat donated by Dodger great, Shawn Green; a foursome at The Bridges in Rancho Santa Fe; and an autographed guitar, as well as a private concert donated by famed award-winning jazz artist, Peter White who delighted the audience with an outstanding solo performance.
The Rainbow of Hope 2003 Awards were presented to: Jeff Roos regional president of Lennar Homes of Southern California along with the Lennar Family of Builders team members who received the Rainbow of Hope Builder Award; Michael Schrock, Urban Arena Landscape Architecture & Planning who garnered outstanding Volunteer; and Vivian Clecak of Human Options who was presented with the Rainbow of Hope Care Provider Award.
Valley Building Materials received the Rainbow of Hope Corporate Partner Award; Gouvis Engineering was honored with the Rainbow of Hope Consultant Award; and the Rainbow of Hope Sub-Contractor Award went to Capital Drywall & Gateway Drywall.
A significant portion of the generated revenues were provided by Diamond and corporate sponsor donations. Participating corporate sponsors contributing $5,000 or more to the Rainbow of Hope Ball were: Builder & Developer Magazine; Fieldstone Communities, Inc., First American Title Company, Lennar Homes/Greystone Homes, Oltmans Construction Company, Orange County Association of Realtors, Shea Homes, The Irvine Company, Valley Building Materials, and William Lyon Homes.
The temporarily homeless served by HomeAid Orange County and their partners include victims of domestic violence; families and individuals made homeless by job loss, catastrophic illness or spousal desertion; women in crisis pregnancy; neglected youths; and the mentally disabled.
