Builders Begin Sign-Ups for Homeaid's

Tommy Bahama's Caribbean Hideaway sponsored by its namesake was one of eight fantasy playhouses displayed at HomeAid Orange County's Project Playhouse 2003. Tommy Bahama's Caribbean Hideaway builder Rancho Mission Viejo is scheduled to build again in this year's event to be held at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.

HomeAid Orange County, the Building Industry Association's charitable outreach is already filling up the spaces for playhouse builders for 2004. Although the Project Playhouse is still months away, seven top area builders have already announced their intent to be part of this much-anticipated event. HomeAid Orange County Project Playhouse builders to date are:

- Mulvaney and Co., Inc.
- Orange County Sheriff's Department
led by Michael Corona
- Rancho Mission Viejo

Project Playhouse HomeAid's successful signature fundraiser will be on display at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, beginning August 25 with the Opportunity Prize preview viewing. PlayDay, the opening day kick-off, is an all-day family affair on Saturday, October 23rd with weekend playhouse tours available up to auction day, October 23rd.
As a major part of this fundraiser, HomeAid is currently gearing up for its industry and community-wide sponsorship drive. Packages are expected to hit the mail by end of February. Underwriting offerings are also available including a $1,500 opportunity to underwrite the Project Playhouse builder luncheon where the event contributor will have their name in front of 30-40 guests including top Orange County builders and developers.

To date, Project Playhouse has raised over $3 million dollars to aid the 28,000 homeless men, women in children residing in our county. HomeAid was founded by the leadership of the Orange County Chapter of the Building Industry Association of Southern California in 1989. The temporarily homeless served by HomeAid include women in crisis pregnancy; victims of domestic violence; the mentally challenged; adults living with HIV/AIDS; and those who find themselves homeless as a result of job loss or catastrophic illness. Since its beginnings, HomeAid Orange County has completed 34 shelter projects with six in various stages of planning or construction.
