For Mother’s Day 2010, more than 80 companies, community organizations and individuals generously volunteered their time and resources to help homeless mothers and their children.
The 2010 Essentials for Young Lives Campaign across Orange County collected more than 273,000 baby items. This is an 88% increase over 2009 totals.
Here’s the count:
- Diapers – 102,229 (161% increase over 2009)
- Baby Wipes – 157,353
- Food – 9,415
- Misc. Items (baby products, wash, lotion, etc.) – 4,446
TOTAL: 273,443
Essentials for Young Lives is a community-wide effort to collect much needed everyday items for homeless infants and toddlers. Mothers and children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population.
HomeAid in partnership with Children and Families Commission of Orange County and the YMCA of Orange County invite businesses, community organizations and individuals to collect baby products such as: diapers, baby wipes and baby hygiene products. All items collected are distributed to HomeAid's service provider partners who assist homeless mothers and their children.
